Yes. Trained & Tamed works with aggressive dogs, reactive dogs, and nervous or fearful dogs in Chester and the surrounding Cheshire area, including cases involving aggression towards people or other dogs, lead reactivity, barking, lunging, problems with visitors, resource guarding, and other difficult behaviour.

I look at what triggers the behaviour, how the dog responds, the environment, the way the dog is being handled, and what is happening around each incident. From there, I can build a practical approach using training, behaviour modification, and management suited to that individual dog.

I also accept dogs with a previous bite history. I am happy for owners to tell me absolutely everything about what has happened, including things they may be embarrassed or worried about. I am not there to judge, blame, or criticise you.

For a dog with a bite history, I do need some basic safety measures in place when I arrive. The dog should initially be secured in a crate, a separate room, or the garden. When it is time to bring the dog out, it should already have a lead and, where appropriate, a muzzle on. If there is no muzzle, the lead needs to be secure enough that there is no realistic risk of it breaking or failing.

Trained & Tamed uses a balanced approach to dog training, rather than a positive only approach. I use both reinforcement and appropriate corrections, depending on the individual dog, the behaviour we are working on, and the situation.

This can include rewards, clear communication, boundaries, lead pressure, verbal interrupters, removing access to something the dog wants, and other appropriate training equipment or consequences where needed.

I do not believe that one training method or piece of equipment is right for every dog. My approach is practical and individual, with the aim of making communication clear, changing unwanted behaviour, and teaching reliable behaviours that work in everyday life.

Yes. Trained & Tamed provides puppy training from 8 weeks old, and I can also advise owners before they collect their puppy.

Early puppy training can cover toilet training, biting and mouthing, settling, handling, boundaries, basic obedience, recall, loose lead walking, and appropriate socialisation and exposure to everyday life.

Starting early gives owners the chance to establish good habits from the beginning, understand their puppy's behaviour, and deal with problems before they become more established.

Trained & Tamed offers one to one dog training, behaviour modification, puppy training, and specialist working dog training.

Depending on the dog and what you want to achieve, this can include obedience training, recall, loose lead walking, reactivity training, aggression cases, separation anxiety, resource guarding, and other behaviour problems.

I also work with working and protection dogs, including detection training, protection work, bitework, decoy work, and handler coaching. Residential dog training is also available, with the programme tailored to the individual dog and owner's requirements.

Training starts with a mandatory 90 minute initial consultation. This gives me time to discuss your dog's history and your concerns, observe the dog in its normal environment, assess the behaviour first hand, and begin practical work with you. You should leave the consultation with a clear understanding of what needs to change and what to work on next.

I do not use generic written homework or one size fits all training plans. I give practical, verbal guidance based on the individual dog and what we are working towards.

Trained & Tamed is based around Chester and provides dog training and behaviour support across Chester and the surrounding Cheshire area.

The location depends on what we are working on. Initial consultations take place at your home, where I can see the dog in its normal environment and understand the situation properly. Further sessions may take place at home, locally, or in suitable real world environments depending on the dog's needs and the behaviour we are working on.

I can travel further where appropriate, with locations outside my usual area subject to a 15% travel surcharge.

My normal availability is Wednesday to Friday, 09:00 to 20:00. Weekend appointments can be available by arrangement.

The initial 90 minute consultation is £65. This gives me the opportunity to discuss your dog's history and behaviour, assess the situation, work with you and the dog practically, and explain what I recommend next.

One to one training sessions are £65 each, while the five session obedience block is £260. Residential dog training is also available, with pricing based on the individual requirements of the dog and owner.

Payment is required before sessions, and I ask for at least 48 hours notice if you need to reschedule.
